Huzzah: An Insider's Guide to Renaissance Faire Culture is a student editorial project exploring the world of the Renaissance Faire—its history, performers, community, garb, commerce, and culture of self-expression. Grounded in original research, the project combines a full editorial layout system with a hand-crafted leather hardcover binding.

Concept

From the start, the goal was for Huzzah to feel like it belonged at the faire itself—not just a book about Renaissance Faire culture, but one that could exist within it. The design system draws from period influences, including authentic ornamental details scanned from library books and historical sources, which are used throughout the layout as section dividers and decorative elements. Typography is set in Cormorant Garamond, chosen for its roots in classical Renaissance letterforms—keeping the book visually grounded in the world it documents.
